NMC has notified the syllabus of NEET (UG) - 2024. You can download the NEET UG Syllabus PDF 2024 from here. The NEET UG Entrance Test consists of 200 multiple-choice questions from Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (Botany & Zoology). 50 questions in each subject are divided into two Sections (A and B). Eligibility to appear in NEET (UG)
As per Regulations of NMC and DCI, eligibility for appearing in NEET (UG) are:-
A student to appear in the NEET UG must have completed 17 years of age at the time of admission to the MBBS course or will complete 17 years of age on or before December 31 of that year for his/her admission in any Undergraduate Medical Course in India. As per National Medical Commission (NMC), there is no upper age limit for NEET UG.
The candidate must have passed Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English individually and must have obtained a minimum 50% marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Bio-technology in their 12th class. For the students belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes (Non Creamy Layer) and PwBD candidates the minimum marks required in 12th class is 40%.
Indian Citizens and Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) intending to pursue MBBS/BDS abroad in a foreign Medical or Dental Institute also need to qualify for NEET (UG).
NEET UG 2024 Counselling
Admissions to all seats of Undergraduate Medical and Dental Courses is done through NEET counselling. Counseling for successful students is done for seats under 15% All India Quota and 85% State quota seats, NEET UG 2024 counselling will be conducted by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) and the respective State Medical Counselling Committees.
The NEET UG result is also used for admission to B.Sc. (H) Nursing courses in accordance with their eligibility criteria. Military Nursing Services (MNS) aspirants seeking admission to BSc Nursing Courses at Armed Forces Medical Service Hospitals (AFMS) for the year 2024 are also required to qualify NEET.
For admissions to BAMS, BUMS and BSMS courses, the AACCC (All-India Ayush Central Counselling Committee) conducts the counselling for All India Qouta.
Reservation Quota for Admission to MBBS and BDS Courses in India
General category belonging to Economically Weaker Section (GEN- EWS) – 10% of seats in every undergraduate medical course.
Other Backward Classes Non-Creamy Layer (OBC- NCL) – 27% of seats in every course
Scheduled Caste (SC) – 15% of seats in every course.
Scheduled Tribe (ST) – 7.5% of seats in every course.
Persons with Disability (PwBD) – 5% seats in each of GEN, GEN-EWS, OBCNCL, SC, and ST category seats.
